Prepare your video or screen recording
For books and paper documents, keep the whole page inside the frame and pause briefly after each page turn. PPT content usually works best from a screen recording because it avoids camera shake and perspective distortion.
Strong glare, poor focus or heavy motion blur can reduce boundary and sharpness detection quality.
Import a video
Use Select video file on the scanner and choose an MP4, MOV or WebM video from Photos or Files. On iPhone and iPad, a video stored only in iCloud may take time to download before Safari can read its metadata.
Choose a scan mode and extract pages
General document scan is intended for books and documents where the whole page changes. PPT lecture scan tries to treat handwriting added over time as changes to the same slide.
If pages change very quickly, reduce the sampling interval and minimum stable time. If one page is captured repeatedly, adjust the duplicate threshold or increase the stable-time requirement.
Review and edit pages
Open any extracted page in the editor. Swipe left or right to move between pages and adjust crop, brightness, contrast and sharpness.
Retake replaces only the current page with a photo. Add photo after inserts a selected photo immediately after the current page. On mobile, the operating system's media picker may offer the camera or your photo library.
Export the PDF
Check page order, missing pages, duplicates and crop boundaries before export. The PDF is image-based; PageScan does not add a separate searchable OCR text layer.
