Are my videos or photos uploaded to a PageScan server?
The current scanner is designed to process selected videos, photos, working page images and PDFs inside your browser rather than upload them to a PageScan storage server. Ordinary network and hosting logs may still exist for serving the website.
Can I use PageScan on iPhone or iPad?
Yes. The interface is responsive and supports mobile media selection in modern browsers including Safari. Large videos may still be limited by device memory or iCloud download state.
Which video formats are supported?
The picker targets browser-playable video formats such as MP4, MOV and WebM. Actual decoding support depends on the operating system, browser and codec.
Does PageScan use OCR?
No. The current PDF output is image-based and PageScan does not generate a separate searchable OCR text layer. Some PDF viewers may perform their own OCR.
Can it remove handwriting from PPT slides?
Lecture mode tries to recognize handwriting added later as a change to the same slide. It cannot reconstruct a clean version if handwriting is already present when the slide first appears.
Why are pages missing or duplicated?
Automatic extraction depends on motion, sharpness and transition speed. Adjust the sampling interval, minimum stable time and duplicate threshold, then review the page list before export.
Is there a maximum video length or file size?
There is no PageScan upload-storage limit because the source video is processed locally, but browser and device memory are practical limits. Long 4K videos may exhaust mobile Safari memory.
Is my generated PDF stored on a server?
No. The current version generates the PDF in your browser and lets you save it to your own device.
What do Retake and Add photo after do?
Retake replaces only the current page with a selected photo. Add photo after inserts a selected photo as a new page immediately after the current page.
Can I scan books or paid course materials?
Only if you have the legal or contractual right to copy or transform them. Do not use PageScan to distribute or sell copyrighted material without permission.
Is PageScan free?
The current version is provided as a free web tool. Features or operating terms may change in the future with notice on the site.
Can work be lost during processing?
Yes. Closing the tab, browser crashes or out-of-memory conditions can erase in-progress work. Always keep important originals separately.
